El papa Francisco recibió este lunes en el Vaticano para una audiencia privada al príncipe de Mónaco, Alberto II, y su esposa Charlene, informó la oficina de prensa de la Santa Sede.

La pareja fue recibida por el papa argentino en la Biblioteca del palacio apostólico, a donde llegó sin los hijos, Jacques y Gabriella, a los que el pontífice había enviado un mensaje de felicitaciones con ocasión del bautizo hace un año.
“Rezaré especialmente por sus hijos”, le dijo el papa, que tenía preparado dos regalos para los gemelos.
La princesa Charlene, vestida con abrigo blanco y guantes blancos, conocida por ser una persona reservada, se arrodilló ante el papa al momento del saludo y le besó la mano.
El encuentro duró unos 20 minutos y según una nota del Vaticano se habló de temas de “interés común” como la defensa del medio ambiente y el fomento del desarrollo sostenible.
Al término del encuentro, durante el intercambio de regalos, el príncipe le regaló al papa dos canastas, una de quesos y otra de frutos y vegetales de su huerto así como una edición especial de la encíclica papal “Laudato si'”, dedicada a la defensa de medio ambiente.
“Creo que ya la he leído”, le dijo con tono de broma el papa.
Francisco tuvo el lunes una agenda apretada de reuniones, entre ellas con la titular del Fondo Monetario Internacional, la francesa Christine Lagarde.
