After the vote, the Presidential Commissioner for Human Rights and Attention to Victims, Humberto Prado, described as a shame that Nicolás Maduro’s dictatorship has abstained from voting at the plenary.

“Maduro’s regime abstained again in the Human Rights Council to adopt a resolution so that Putin’s troops leave Ukraine,” said the official of the Government in Charge through a message broadcast through his Twitter account.

Furthermore, he quoted Desmond Tutu’s phrase: “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.”

In the vote at the UN Human Rights Council, 32 member countries voted in favor, 2 against and there were 13 abstentions.
